Anna’s coffee shop in the beautiful village of Voutas is a good example of what I use to call “magic” coffee shops in Crete. I speak about a simple place, looks by the first sight like spot where you can have a coffee, tea, or a soft drink. The great, nice surprise comes with the question if there is anything to eat!
I won’t reveal any details about the menu, since I don’t want to destroy the surprise, but to give just a small idea I would recommend the French fries. I speak about the fresh potatoes from the garden of Giorgos (Anna’s husband), fried in the healthy, high quality (own produced) olive oil, served with wild oregano, collected by them from the south hills of the area (the taste is natural, completely different than what we are used to in the fast food places)!
Plus, Giorgos is almost every evening in the mood to fire his simple grill and prepare delicious plates from his own (free ranged) sheep and goats.
A must stop during the long trip from the North Chania to Paleochora in the South.
